*REV. DAKORAH, M.AFR., ORDAINED TO THE PRIESTHOOD*

Rev. Evans Kuusanyiri Dakorah, M.Afr., on 25th July, 2026, received the Sacrament of Holy Orders, administered by Most Rev Philip Naameh, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Tamale, at the Our Lady of Annunciation Cathedral in Tamale.
The ordination Mass was concelebrated by Most Rev. Matthew Yitiereh, Bishop of Yendi Diocese, and 46 priests including Very Rev. Frs. Hilary Pogbeyir, the Vicar General of Tamale Archdiocese, and Thaddeus Kuusah, the Cathedral Administrator.
In attendance were consecrated men and women, seminarians, the family of the ordinand, hundreds of the faithful, and well-wishers.
Very Rev. Fr. Pam Dennis Dashong, M.Afr., the Provincial Superior, Ghana-Nigeria Province of Missionaries of Africa, was the homilist.
He preached on missionary vocation, relative to Samuel’s calling (1 Samuel 3:1–10), missionary zeal (1 Corinthians 9:16–19, 22–23) as exhibited by their founder Cardinal Charles Lavigerie, and Jesus’ command to His apostles to “Go and make disciples of all nations” Matthew (28:16–20).
He stressed the importance of listening as Samuel did, as well as community life and prayers in the life of a missionary, and advised the ordinand to always put these into practice.
Fr. Dashong also spoke about the vision of Cardinal Lavigerie which guided his missionary work and his affable nature especially, his ability to adapt to African communities and his respect for local cultures, emphasising that this remains relevant even for today’s generation of missionaries.
Addressing the ordinand as a Missionary of Africa, he noted that regardless of where he is sent on mission, his availability to serve must be paramount, not his geographical location, which he insisted does not define one’s missionary identity.
“Whether you are sent to the Desert, East Africa, Southern Africa, Europe, America, or Asia, remember that your missionary identity is not determined by geography, but by your availability”, he emphasised.
In this regard, he reminded him about their 2016 General Chapter which enjoins the congregation to send missionaries to “wherever our charism is needed”.
Fr. Dashong concluded by thanking the family of Rev. Dakorah for offering their son to Mother Church. He, however, appealed to them to support him not only materially, but also with their prayers.
Delivering the vote of thanks after his ordination, Fr. Dakorah expressed gratitude to Archbishop Naameh, Bishop Yitiereh, priests, especially his formators, his family, and all who in diverse ways, supported him during his formation.
Fr. Dakorah began his journey to the priesthood in 2012, as an aspirant of the Missionaries of Africa. After his postulancy programme in Nigeria in 2015, he continued his formation in Ghana (Ejisu), Zambia, Burkina Faso, and Democratic Republic of Congo.
On 21st November, 2025, he professed his Perpetual Missionary Oath, paving the way for his ordination as a Deacon on 22nd November, 2025.
Fr. Dashong, on behalf of his Superior General, announced that Fr. Dakorah has been appointed to Birnin Koni parish, Maradi Diocese, in the Republic of Niger.
